Job Title: Windows System Engineer

Job Summary:
Herring Bank is seeking a Windows System Engineer to maintain and improve the performance, security, and availability of our on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role is hands-on and technical, focusing on Windows Server engineering, Azure/Microsoft 365 management, SAN storage, backup systems, and IT compliance. The position requires expertise in Hyper-V clusters, identity management, and enterprise-grade system operations.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration and Virtualization

·       Engineer and maintain Windows Server environments.

·       Manage Hyper-V clusters and virtual machine deployments.

·       Administer SAN solutions (NetApp preferred) and perform system validations and hardware installations.

Cloud Management and Identity Security

·       Oversee Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID (Azure AD), hybrid identity, SSO, and conditional access.

·       Administer policies and provisioning across Active Directory, Intune, and M365.

System Security and Compliance

·       Enforce system and cloud security controls and protocols.

·       Monitor logs, run audits, and collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure compliance and reporting.

Backup and Data Protection

·       Manage VEEAM or equivalent backup solutions and ensure recovery readiness.

·       Troubleshoot and resolve backup issues proactively.

Qualifications:

·       Education/Experience: 5+ years in IT systems engineering with Windows Server, Hyper-V, and SAN experience.

·       Certifications (Preferred):

o   Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or Administrator

o   NetApp Certified Technology Associate (NCTA)

o   ITIL Foundation or equivalent

·       Technical Skills:

o   Hyper-V cluster management

o   SAN administration (NetApp preferred)

o   VEEAM or similar backup systems

o   Active Directory, Intune, M365, Entra ID

o   Hybrid cloud environments and identity management

o   Basic Linux administration


Skills and Competencies:

·       Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

·       Familiarity with hybrid infrastructure and cloud security

·       Attention to compliance and regulatory detail

·       Effective verbal and written communication

·       Ability to work independently and during after-hours maintenance windows

Preferred Qualifications
·       Familiarity with regulatory compliance and audit reporting

·       Experience with Microsoft security technologies across endpoints and identity

Requirements/Special Conditions:

·       Must be able to pass a background check

·       Periodic travel to Amarillo, TX required (remote candidates)

·       Occasional after-hours support required

·       Ability to lift 25 lbs for data center hardware tasks
