Position Summary: As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our MySQL and MSSQL databases. This role requires expertise in database setup, query optimization, enhancing database security, and implementing continual improvements to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You will be responsible for ensuring our databases, and to some degree the servers they run on, are online, healthy, available, and ready to scale. 

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our dynamic and growing team. A successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our MySQL and MSSQL databases. This role requires expertise in database setup, query optimization, enhancing database security, and implementing continual improvements to ensure optimal performance and reliability. 

Key Responsibilities: 

·         Design, implement, and maintain MySQL and MSSQL database systems to meet the organization's needs. 
·         Optimize database performance through efficient query tuning, indexing, and caching strategies. 
·         Ensure data integrity, security, and availability through robust backup and recovery solutions, access controls, and encryption mechanisms. 
·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective database solutions. 
·         Monitor database systems for performance issues, troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner. 
·         Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data. 
·         Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in database management and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability. 
·         Support our systems during normal working hours as well as during outages and changes. 
·         Document database configurations, procedures, and guidelines for reference and training purposes. 
 

 

 

Qualifications: 

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on MySQL and MSSQL. 
·         Proficiency in database setup, configuration, and maintenance. 
·         Strong command of SQL and Stored Procedures with experience in query optimization techniques. 
·         Solid understanding of database security principles and best practices. 
·         Experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools. 
·         Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. 
·         Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
·         Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MySQL Database Administrator, etc.) are a plus. 
·         Working knowledge of RDS, DynamoDB, and other cloud DB frameworks and schemas are a plus.
