New Account Specialist I
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with some Saturdays; flexible schedule typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
- Process retail and commercial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and official checks.
- Balance a daily cash drawer and perform vault transactions within established limits.
- Open and maintain consumer deposit accounts and CDs.
- Assist customers with online banking and bill pay, including password resets, navigation, and account access troubleshooting.
- Answer incoming calls professionally, remain available within the call queue, and appropriately direct customer inquiries.
- Greet customers promptly and provide professional, high-quality service.
- Identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals to bank products, services, and specialists.
- Perform wire transfers and stop payments and assist with ordering checks and debit cards.
- Support ATM and safe deposit box procedures.
- Follow all compliance, security, and operational procedures, including BSA/AML requirements and applicable privacy laws.
- Participate in branch opening and closing procedures and maintain established branch security standards.
- Order and maintain branch supplies and assist with general administrative responsibilities.
- Cross-train to support commercial account openings, community engagement initiatives, and consumer account secondary reviews.
- Assist with quality control procedures by developing familiarity with commercial account secondary review processes.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of retail banking experience required.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience within a branch setting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic math and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of banking regulations and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced branch environment.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

The cattleman would drive their cattle from Oklahoma through Vernon to Fort Worth to sell their cattle. When the cattleman sold their cattle and they went back to Oklahoma they were loaded with cash.
